Learning Differences Accommodation Protocol

Joshua Academy demands academic excellence and integrity.

We recognize diverse learning styles, and our faculty and staff are committed to equipping every student for success.

We provide reasonable accommodations for students with documented learning differences, without compromising our rigorous curriculum. Students with documentation must consult with the Learning Specialist to ensure proper files are on record. Upon receipt, the Specialist will notify relevant administrators.

Joshua Academy may grant the following accommodations

or others approved by the Headmaster, to students with documented learning differences:

  • Up to 50% extended time (“time and a half”) on classroom, mid-term, and final exams.
  • Strategic seating to optimize learning (e.g., front of the classroom).
  • Use of approved technology for note-taking, lecture recording, or essay test responses.
  • Targeted support and resources from the Center for Academic Excellence and the Writing Center.

Approved accommodations will be disseminated to faculty by the Learning Specialist. To utilize extended test time, students must schedule a completion time with the faculty member within one school day following the test. Early testing is prohibited
